The Indy Fuel are a premier minor league ice hockey team in the ECHL that began play in the 2014-15 season. They are affiliated with the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs.
The team will play 36 regular season games at home and 72 games total. Indy Fuel is one of 30 ECHL teams in the league along with in-state rivals, the Fort Wayne Komets. Games are played October through April.
The Indy Fuel and racing go hand-in-hand. The Fuel name is derived from the rich history of auto racing in Indianapolis that has “fueled” the local economy for over a hundred years. 2024-25 season will mark the 37th year of ECHL Hockey the development league to the National Hockey League and American Hockey League, with over 740 players having graduated to the NHL.
